A positive place to visit when you need a little inspiration to keep you going.
This is one of my favorite quotes and so helpful to remember at the beginning of the school year! As you’re rushing around getting everything ready, think about all the magic that is about to take place in your classroom. AND you’ll really need to pull this one out again at times in the year when you’re overwhelmed or struggling. Keep the belief & hope that something wonderful is about to happen ~ because it is!
We all have days where we’re not at our best. It can be tough to accept this. As teachers, there’s no way to ‘lay low’ for the day. We have to be ‘on’ all the time. On those days when I’m not on top of my game, this quote helps keep things in perspective.
It’s a reminder of how much of an impact we have in our classrooms. We have children in our rooms who look forward to walking through our doors each day. The security and comfort of a welcoming classroom may be exactly what they need at that moment. Sooooo, even if we’re not at our absolute best, there’s a good chance that we still made a difference in their day. We’re still that loving, caring teacher in their eyes (and hearts).
A good thing to remember as we sometimes get wrapped up in curriculum and assessment. It can get hectic and we often don’t feel like we’re doing enough. Slowing down and taking the time to build caring relationships with our students is the most valuable investment we can make.
As the late, great Rita Pierson said, “You know, kids don’t learn from people they don’t like!” I cannot possibly do her justice here through a simple quote. If you haven’t seen her TED Talk about education, you’re in for a treat! Hands down, it is THE most inspirational talk I’ve heard about education. When I find myself feeling discouraged or disheartened, I turn on some Rita! What a true gift she was in the classroom and continues to be through her inspiring words.
